Did you know just 5 days of massage with sunflower oil has been shown to improve weight gain velocity and decrease length of stay?
In the 2017 study by Taheri and colleagues, entitled The effect of a short course of moderate pressure sunflower oil massage on the weight gain velocity and length of NICU stay in preterm infants, researchers examined the effects of massage on weight gain velocity and length of stay. 44 preterm infants were enrolled in this study and researchers found just 5 minutes of massage, three times per day, for 5 days, significantly improved weight gain velocity and decreased length of stay in the intervention group!
